App Clip

Gerege App's App Clip is not released yet. Merchants cannot test an App Clip yet and need to build nothing for it: the sticker's and the QR's URL stays the same — https://geregeapp.mn/pay/t/<code> (Testing NFC). Today Gerege App (iOS build 122+) handles that URL itself and opens the payment sheet; on a phone without the app, Safari opens the public terminal page. Once the Clip ships, a phone without the app will open the Clip instead.

This page is the plan and how Gerege's own iOS developers will test the Clip. Time: 5 minutes.

What will happen

• Scanning a sticker or QR on a phone without Gerege App opens the App Clip, showing the machine, location and amount; «Pay with Gerege App» downloads/opens the app, or the person signs in with eID inside the Clip and pays, confirming with an SMS code.
• On a phone with Gerege App the same URL opens the app directly.
• The Clip's address (planned): https://appclip.geregeapp.mn/pay?t=<code>; bundle mn.gerege.app.Clip. That host does not exist yet — Gerege App recognises the form, but stickers always carry the canonical https://geregeapp.mn/pay/t/<code>.
• The App Clip is not enabled on tobacco machines (the age check stays on the machine).

For Gerege's iOS developers: testing the Clip

Local Experiences (a real device): Settings → Developer → Local Experiences → «Register Local Experience»:

Then write a URL with that prefix to an NFC tag or make it a QR and scan it — the Clip card appears. (The Developer menu appears once the phone has been connected to Xcode.)

Xcode: in the Clip's scheme → Run → Arguments → Environment Variables, set _XCAppClipURL = https://appclip.geregeapp.mn/pay?t=7k2m9x4q3p — the Clip receives this URL as its invocation when it runs.

Simulator — Universal Links: to test how Gerege App catches /pay/… links (works today) and how the Clip will, in the simulator (which has no NFC):

TestFlight: App Store Connect → TestFlight → App Clip → add test URLs under «App Clip Invocations», and TestFlight testers open them from the list.

What merchants do

Nothing, for now. Register your terminals, put their url on stickers and QRs, and lock the stickers. This page will be updated when printing App Clip Codes and paying inside the Clip arrive.
